Beatles Cartoon Pop Art Show featuring animator Ron Campbell

The legendary animator will be exhibiting Beatles cartoon pop artwork as well as other beloved cartoon characters that encompass his 50-year career in Children’s Television such as Scooby Doo, the Smurfs, Rugrats, Winnie the Pooh, Flintstones, Jetsons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & more.

In 1964 the Beatles invaded the United States, performing for 73 million people on the Ed Sullivan Show and dominating the US pop charts for years. Now over five decades later, the Fab Four continue to be the most celebrated musical group in Rock history. And Beatlemania is alive and well…recently director Ron Howard premiered a documentary on the Fab Four’s touring years and Capitol Records re-released the classic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. 2018 also marks the 50th anniversary of the release of the Beatles classic animated film, Yellow Submarine which since its release has become a permanent fixture in pop culture, defining the psychedelic 60s for generations to come. The film was recently re-released in theaters for a limited engagement to celebrate its anniversary!

ron-campbell_200_200In honor of Yellow Submarine’s 50th anniversary, as one of its animators as well as the director of the 1960’s Saturday Morning Beatles Cartoon series, Ron Campbell will make a rare personal appearance at the Edward A. Dixon Gallery, 12 South Ludlow Street in Dayton, Ohio, Tuesday, August 21st through Wednesday, August 22nd. Ron will showcase his original Beatles cartoon paintings created specially for the show as well as feature other artwork based on his 50-year career in cartoons including Scooby Doo, Rugrats, Smurfs, Flintstones, Jetsons and more. The exhibit is free and all works are available for purchase.
